The 2021 Whisky Cask Market Report has arrived

The next edition of the Whisky Cask Market Report has arrived, offering investors an unparalleled perspective of the performance of the whisky cask market over the last year. A year in which financial markets experienced volatility and inflationary pressures, but in which whisky casks continued to provide reassuring stability for investors.

The report, which is now in its fourth edition, tracks data from almost 2000 casks across 80 of Scotland’s distilleries, providing information on the specific performance of distilleries, cask types and the whisky cask market compared to other traditional and alternative assets. A key feature of the report is the BC20 Index a representative sample of casks from a range of distilleries that has been tracked since 2019 to provide an historical overview of the performance of whisky cask investment.

As Niall Brown, Braeburn Whisky CEO, says in his introduction to the report: “As we move towards a post-pandemic reality, with rising inflation and market uncertainty now dominating the conversation, investors are faced with some important choices about how to protect and grow their wealth over the coming years. Therefore, having the right information to hand is more important than ever before.”

Included for the first time in the year’s report is data on the global whisky cask market, with a comparative analysis of cask investment across different regions and countries. Other aspects under review in the report are the top-20 best performing distilleries, the comparative performance of casks according to their age and the average growth of the BC20 Index and the general whisky cask market.

According to Niall Brown: “This edition of the report provides an even more complete overview of the state of the whisky cask investment market thanks to the ever-growing variety of casks and distilleries that feature in it. As sales increase, the amount of data also increases, giving investors an even richer analysis on which to base their decisions”.
